Videos of the Meet

Mini-Meet

Today was the big gymnastics meet! I mostly took video, so when I get those uploaded, I will post them. I was proud of Riley, he got 2nd place on Floor and Vault, 3rd place on Rings and P-Bars, 6th on High Bar and 7th on Pommel Horse (gotta work on that one!) Overall though, he placed 7th, which I'm still not sure how that happened with 2 2nd's and 2 3rd's, but oh well, he has 4 medals and 3 ribbons. And he rocked his leotard! We have been giving him a hard time about wearing it (technically it's a step-in) but we call it a leo-tard!

Austin's Park and Pizza Day!

The day started nasty, it was POURING rain when we woke up. But the sky cleared and it warmed up, so we headed to APP for the afternoon, to celebrate the last day of Spring Break. We all played lazer tag, rode go-carts, and bumper boats. Regan was SO upset because she rode with David in the bumper boats once and he got everyone so wet they ganged up and got David and Regan soaked. She stormed off upset that she got the brunt of everyone's anger at Dad! But she did get to drive the boats on her own, she's tall enough to do that, so she drove herself a few times until...lo and behold, a cold front comes through and it gets down right chilly! So we headed inside for games and to dry off some. Tristan came up and met us for a while too and we had a good time, didn't leave till almost 9!

Here's a video of David getting everyone wet:

And Regan going for a ride in the spinning tea cups, how she doesn't make herself sick, I don't know!

Texas Baptist Children's Home

As part of our service project for Girl Scouts, we donated boxes of cookies to the Texas Baptist Children's Home. The girls got to go on a field trip there, have a tour, meet some of the kids who live there, and give them their cookies. First we met up with our guide, and then went to a girl's cottage to give them some cookies (we weren't allowed to photograph all the kids):

Then we went to a boy's cottage for a tour and since most of the boy's were at sports practice, we did get to meet one boy who explained to the girl's what Lacrosse is since he just got back from Lacrosse practice and none of the girls knew what that was!

The girls got to go inside the beautiful chapel and look at all the stained glass windows that show kids in the Bible who were raised by someone other than their parents. Then we got to tour the gym and the activity center, and the girls played with all the stuff they could find:

We got to look at the clothing donation center (they need stuff bad so if you have any clothes to donate, they would LOVE it!) and then we headed out to the playground to burn off some steam:

When we left, all the girls wished they could live there! I was proud of our girls for raising money to give them cookies, and in the near future we will be doing a clothes drive for the Home also!

Duck Park

I just took the kids to see Race to Witch Mountain, had some time to spare before gymnastics so we came to the duck park to feed the ducks and geese.  It's super windy today! Regan found buttercups and smeared them all over her nose!

Aunt Kathy and Trista!

I made the kids stay home Wednesday and clean for company, which they thought was pure torture to spend a day of spring break cleaning! But Aunt Kathy and Trista came for a visit on Thursday, and we shopped till we dropped at Ikea and the Outlet Malls, then David grilled steak and veggies for us.

On Friday, Riley had gymnastics again in the morning, getting ready for the big meet next week. So we picked him up and headed to Phil's for lunch, it's our mission to take ALL our visitors there! They loved it (what's not to love?) and they had Amy's Ice Cream for the first time, again, another Austin institution. Then we went over to Hey, Cupcake and got some for later. Played around in the back with the sad tree. David smoked pork for pulled pork sandwiches, and pork ribs, and Daniel and Nikki and Hayden came over, we watched old home videos on DVD, and laughed at our impeccable fashion sense in the early 90's. Basically, the kids made fun of us for having curly perms or funky shirts. We looked like we borrowed shirts from the Fresh Prince. But it was good to see mom on the DVD's and have a good laugh at all of us. We stayed up till after 1am laughing and having a good time.

Then today, we had Round Rock donuts for breakfast (sugar overload weekend!) and they left a little while ago. I hate to see them go, but they'll be back in July for our annual river trip. Can't wait!

Waterloo Ice House

We met Jay and Tammy and the kids at Waterloo Ice House for lunch, they have a playground, and let the kids play while we eat, they did the usual drive by eating, take a bite and run it off. They had a good time playing around and it was a good halfway point to meet up, since Regan spent the night with them and it was time to get her back. She had a good time, and was worn plum out, she took about a 3 hour nap when we got home!

The Baby Goat and Abby

A Day on the Farm

Tammy will laugh at me for calling it that, but we spent the day at Tammy's house, and it's like a farm! We saw the rabbits and chickens, and the kids gathered the eggs from the chicken coop, and we got to bottle feed her new baby goat! So, that's a farm, right?! It was fun, the goat was hilarious, a loud little thing, and cute as a button. I got to hold her and she almost went to sleep in my arms, she just doesn't want to be left alone for a minute. I will post some video later I got of her bleating her little heart out! It's so sad. But she is adorable and the kids had a blast out there, Riley got to drive the mule around and Regan and Angie played all day, Regan is still there playing, she spent the night. She will be worn out when she comes home today!

San Antonio Day Two

San Antonio Day Two

Regan and I woke up before the boys and headed down to breakfast, left the lazy bones to themselves. We had a leisurely morning at the hotel until check out, the kids act like staying in a hotel is the best thing ever, they love it.

Then we headed over to the Alamo, and because of the festival, or spring break, it was more crowded than I have ever seen it! There was a LONG line of people waiting just to get in. So we left after walking around the grounds a bit.

We were going to do Tower of the America's, the big elevator with the round restaurant at the top, but decided against it, and instead headed to the Witte Museum. They had a Genome exhibit so the kids learned about DNA and proteins, they enjoyed it. And they have a really neat treehouse with a skycycle that Riley got to ride, although after Six Flags the day before, he thought it was "boring." Regan wanted to see dinosaur bones, so she got to see some there, and mummies, log cabins, all kinds of neat things.

Then we headed out of town, and David remembered that there is a Cooper's BBQ in Gruene, so of course we had to go there, that's one of David's favorite places to eat! But it is good, and the kids love some BBQ!

It was a quick trip, but fun, a great kick-off to Spring Break!

Riley and David at Six Flags

San Antonio Day One

We got off to a late start, taking it easy in the morning and not trying to rush, rush, rush. We dropped Bailey off at his Mimi's, and then headed downtown to eat at Juan in a Million. Only problem is, it's SXSW weekend and traffic was HORRIBLE! Thank goodness for GPS in my phone, we took back roads to the east side and had our breakfast taco's at Juan's before heading out for the day.

We went straight to the hotel and checked in, we didn't really have an itinerary for the weekend, we were just going to play it by ear. It was cloudy, overcast and a little bit cool so we thought we would check out Six Flags and see if it was crowded. A great choice because there was hardly anybody there!

We had to go get our season passes and Riley and David wanted to ride the Rattler, which is the only thing that had a line the whole day! So Regan and I went next door and rode the Road Runner roller coaster, her first semi-big one! She freaked out the first time and was saying she wanted off, until we pulled into the station, she wanted to go again and again! They said as long as no one was in our row, we could stay on, or move seats to an empty row. We ended up riding it at least 10 times, and the last time Regan wanted to be brave and ride it all by herself.

Then we made the circuit, and Riley got to ride all the big coasters, the Superman, Goliath, Poltergeist, Boomerang, and we all rode Tony Hawk's Big Spin together. Many rides he got to stay on and ride for a 2nd or 3rd time. It ended up being the perfect day to go, we got to ride just about everything there in just a few hours.

Then we thought we would head down to the River Walk and eat dinner, but that was a bust. There was some Luminaria festival down there and it was packed and over an hour to wait for a table, so we ended up at our local favorite, Chacho's. We didn't get back to our hotel until after midnight, tired and satisfied!

Six Flags

This is like the BEST.DAY.EVER! We've had hardly any lines, we rode evereything, some things over and over again. We're cold, but happy!

Day at the Salon

First I went and had my hair cut at Sonia's, I went shorter for the summer, and it looked like she cut about 7 or 8 inches off! It feels a lot better, and I'll like it better when I can fix it without looking like I have a mushroom cap on.

Then after we met David for lunch, we dragged (literally) Riley next door for his hair cut. He needs one before his big gymnastics meet in a couple of weeks, it just had to be done, the curls had to come off. He was NOT happy about it at all, but I think it looks pretty good. As I'm telling the lady how short we want his hair, I turn around to see this...

Regan tells me, "I'm having a manicure!" So at least I got to sit and watch in peace. Here's the final result on the nails:

Regan's Review of "Bindi the Jungle Girl"

Regan used to LOVE this show, she watched it everyday, and I didn't mind because it was educational. Then this weekend, it came on and I said, "Look Regan! Bindi the Jungle Girl is on, you LOVE this show!" And she tells me, "Not any more mom, that Bindi is such a Know-it-All!" I cracked up.

Phil's Ice House and Hey, Cupcake!

After school today we met David for lunch at one of our favorite places, Phil's Ice House. It is SO hot today though! The kids of course had a blast on the playground, with some new things, the "dizzy dummies". They spun around so much Regan nearly hurled, Riley actually did. Great times!

Then we went to the new location for Hey, Cupcake and had one, yum. And out back to wash hands after that, and they pretended like they worked in the airstream, and we saw a sad tree that was so cute! Riley has a lock-in for church tonight, so we came home so he could take a nap, yeah, right!

Guess Where...

Lunch and playtime, do you know where we are?

Upward Awards Ceremony

Tonight was the awards ceremony, and it was so cute. They had all the cheerleaders on the stage to do a cheer, and Pastor Joe spoke to the kids (and adults) about looking Upward, not looking back. Then all the kids got really cool backpacks that they love! We got our pictures and they all turned out cute, and then we celebrated by having dinner at mom's favorite, Chuy's!

Mamma Mia!

Mamma Mia

Another girl scout event this weekend, Mamma Mia! and it was so much fun, and a mother/daughter event. After church, and lunch, we booked it back to Pflugerville to meet up with our troop and join the fun. They had it broken down into stations, the first was a disco station, they had one room with a lot of funky accessories out for the moms and girls to try on and then have your picture taken together. Regan didn't want to leave this toom until she tried on EVERYTHING! There were feather boa's, funky hats, tiaras, glittery sunglasses, all kinds of fun stuff. So, we finally narrowed it down, got our picture made, then went next door to the disco and danced to some ABBA music!

Then the next station was smoothies, which neither one of us are really into, but we chose a peach/strawberry smoothie and didn't drink much, but played some games at the table for a bit.

The next station was both our favorites, the SPA station! Regan wanted to paint my nails, so I let her and she did a great job! Then she wanted to do my make-up, but I said let me do yours first and then spent a LONG time doing her nails and make up. She looked so cute though, and there was sparkle glitter hair spray, so she was very sparkly when we left. She also won the door prize in that room, a little make up bag with some nail polish and lip gloss in it.

At the last station we made pet rocks and picture frames, and again, she won the door prize at that station! It was a lot of fun, and the girls (and moms) had a great time!
